Grilling Safety Tips

With barbecue season upon us, we find more and more that tragedy can strike due to grills. Although it seems like something we use daily, without the proper precautions, it can be extremely dangerous. However, we have a few tips and safety precautions you can follow when deciding to grill.
- Only use grills outdoors. The use of propane and charcoal barbecue grills indoors can cause a fire in the blink of an eye.
- Place the grill away from your home as well as other things that may catch fire. If something goes wrong, your grill can ignite in flames and cause everything around it to as well.
- Always clean your grill. Sometimes, when the grill has a buildup of excess grease or fat from a previous barbecue, that can cause flames to jump up higher than normal. This can prove dangerous for you and the people around.
- Finally, never leave the grill unattended. Make sure that someone is always around the grill in the event that something does go wrong.
Even if you follow these precautions, tragedy still can strike. If you find yourself in that situation, call SERVPRO of Western Union County. We're here to help.
