What To Do When a Pipe Bursts
7/14/2019 (Permalink)
A pipe burst can happen at any time. When it does, people are often left unsure of what to do. Here at SERVPRO of Western Union County, we are equipped to deal with that type of situation in the best way possible. While you wait for us to get to the scene, there are a couple of things you can do:
- Turn of the water to your house. If the water remains on, odds are the water will continue to leak or even flood. By shutting off the source, you are reducing the amount of damage done to your house.
- If the pipe continues to leak or drip, use a bucket to collect the water to contain the problem.
- If the pipe breaks in a wall or ceiling, switch off the power at the main breaker and avoid electrical fixtures or wiring. The mix of wires and water can be extremely dangerous.
We are trained to help and deal with these kinds of situations. If you ever find yourself in that place, give us a call at (201) 496-6024.
